Setup

The MDT is hosted at mdt.npdev.eu. You need a Discord server and a browser, nothing else.

1. Invite the bot

Open mdt.npdev.eu/invite and add the bot to your Discord server. Once it has joined, it posts a welcome message that mentions whoever added it, with a link to the setup wizard for this server.

2. Run the setup wizard

The wizard lives at https://mdt.npdev.eu/onboarding/<guildId>. You log in with Discord first. If you skip it, the web board shows a hint that takes you back. It has seven steps:

#StepWhat you choose
1Vorlage (template)Rettungsdienst, Polizei, Feuerwehr or Neutral. See templates
2Name & IconThe instance name and icon
3Dienstmarken-Format (badge format)How badge numbers are read from Discord nicknames
4Begriffe (terms)The words the UI uses (unit, facility, person …)
5ModuleWhich modules are on
6Beispieldaten (sample data)Optional sample data for a quick start
7FertigDone

Sample data is only written into areas that are still empty. Existing shifts, files, incidents, documents, facilities and settings are never overwritten. Everything you choose here can be changed later in the settings.

3. Badges and the employee role

  • The badge (Dienstmarke) is read from the Discord nickname, using the prefix and pattern from the wizard. In the EMS template that's [MD-<number>], e.g. [MD-04] Marlow. Clocking in requires a badge in the nickname.
  • Pick the employee role (Mitarbeiter-Rolle) in the settings. Members with this role can open the web board. Without a configured role, only server admins and the extra admins you configure get in.

What each person may do beyond that is decided by ranks and capabilities. See Permissions.

4. Publish the panel

In the channel where people should clock in, run:

/panel

The bot posts the time clock panel with the buttons to clock in, clock out, take a break and go on standby. The panel also shows the current dispatchers (Leitung) and units (Einheiten) and updates live.

5. Open the web board

Go to mdt.npdev.eu/dispatch, log in with Discord and pick your server. Each server's board lives at /dispatch/<guildId>.

Discord commands

CommandWhoWhat it does
/panelAdminPublish the time clock panel in this channel

Deleting an instance

The server owner can delete the instance under Einstellungen. This deletes all of the guild's data, removes the bot's own messages where Discord allows it, and makes the bot leave the server. Other users' messages are not touched.
